A very productive UKEC Programme and Easter Weekend

Westminster Cathedral; crowd after Good Friday's service
I just came back from London for the UKEC Program Amanat Negara IV (PAN4). I was also juggling in between with the Easter Triduum; Maundy Thrusday, Good Friday and Easter Vigil. I attended all three; Maundy in Cambridge and the other two in London's Westminster Cathedral. It was packed and the choir was just impressive!

Me, Syarifah (PhD; UCL) and Adibah (Law; Oxford)

Prof Emiritus Dr Khoo Kay Khim; Malaysian historian

The UKEC PAN4 was a 3-day programme to engage students and prominent Malaysian leaders in intellectual discussions that touch on pressing national issues and areas that are thought to be "uncharted territories" in Malaysia. It was represented by 103 students from 43 different universities across the UK and EIRE. The other objectives include sharing of ideas and gaining priceless networking experiences with the leaders from diverse backgrounds and industries.

Prof Shamsul Amri; Director of Malay Studies and Civilisation in UKM

I had the opportunity to participate actively in discussions and thought that it was great to be able to get answers directly from people who make decisions in the country.

I feel tall...

Among the speakers whom I found extremely interesting was Tunku Abdul Aziz, who was the Special Adviser to the SG of UN; Datuk Johan Raslan, Executive Chairman for Pricewaterhouse Coopers Malaysia, Prof Emiritus Dr Khoo Kay Khim, Prof Dato' Dzulkifli Abd Razak, USM Vice-Chancellor and Dato Dr Munir Majid, Chairman of Malaysia Airlines.

I don't feel tall....With Tunku Abdul Aziz; Special Adviser to the Secretary-General of the United Nations

With Prof Dato' Dzulkifli Abdul Razak; Vice Chancellor of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). He was also the presenter for the topic "Education for Sustainable Development in Malaysia". I just realised that USM was chosen by the United Nations to be the Centre of Expertise for Sustainable Development in the Asian region (except Japan). Hmm...good news...

And not forgetting, we also had our most famous environmental TV journalist; Karam Singh Walia.
