Nine people were killed.
Tens of thousands had their journeys severely disrupted due to high winds.
A man died when a lorry was blown onto a car!
It took me twice the effort to ride a bike on the opposite direction of the wind.
My bike was swerved out of direction and nearly hit a car by the sudden gush of wind!
Sight nearly impaired by falling twigs!
Thank God for bringing me home safely...

Thanks god you are OK. Since you have been commuting daily by bicycle within Cambridge, take a good care of your safety. Where helmet if possible and also a quality raincoat / protective jacket, just to warm yourself with the current severe weather. The more I watch the news, the more cautious for me to go around lately.Take care bro!
p/s: avoid cycling if the weather is bad. Or else, just wait ( you know, like chatting or surfing or reading?)until the weather is kind enough.
agree! agree! prevent better than cure...walk instead of cycle.
just be careful.
The usual British gale, wish we hv them here
Yup yup. There was another part to the story. I continued cycling and then the bike stopped abruptly again, by the sudden gush of wind from the opposite direction. A girl in front of me stared amusingly cos her umbrella was flipped over at the same spot. Both of us were laughing away. We just thought it was damn funny- without thinking about the looming danger ahead of us.
